The award, a component of the Cooper-Hewitt's National Design Awards, recognizes the public's vote for the past year's most exceptional contribution to the graphic design field.

The final winner of the 2007 People's Design Award will be announced October 18, 2007 at the National Design Awards gala in New York City , a highlight of National Design Week. Anyone may vote until Wednesday, October 17 for their choice from the field of nominees; to vote online for "Design Matters", visit http://peoplesdesignaward.cooperhewitt.org/2007/nominee/1353 .

Now in its fourth season, "Design Matters", sponsored by Adobe Corporation, is a focal point for news, opinions, thought, and trends on the dynamic world of graphic design and corporate branding. The program is hosted by Debbie Millman, managing partner and president of the design division at New York City-based Sterling Group, one of the country's leading brand identity firms.

Millman is also the author of a new book, "How To Think Like A Great Graphic Designer" (Allworth Press), a compilation of interviews with nineteen of the world's most celebrated graphic designers including Stefan Sagmeister, Michael Beirut, David Carson, and Milton Glaser.

"'Design Matters' has grown in reputation over its nearly four-year run. Today it attracts many of the luminaries of the world of design, giving students, professionals and the general public unparalleled insight into the images, objects and symbols that shape modern culture," said Jeff Spenard, President of Internet Radio at Modavox. "Being nominated for the People's Choice Award is a well-deserved honor for both the show and for Debbie Millman-and indicative of the upbeat, thought-provoking power of the show itself."

"Design Matters", which attracts over 150,000 listeners, has been voted a "favorite podcast" on IF ' s Marketing Podcast survey at www.if.psfk.com . The show is downloaded by over 45,000 people on iTunes each month, and is also regularly in iTunes' Top 100 Business podcasts. "Design Matters" is also an iTunes featured podcast.

The Cooper Hewitt Museum People's Design Award launched in 2006 as a way for the public to nominate and vote for a design influence of their choice. The awards have been a prominent way for the museum-the only such institution in the nation devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary design-to connect the public to the world of architectural, industrial and graphic design.

Individuals are invited to express their views on what constitutes good design through their vote in the People's Design Award. Final deadline for online voting is Wednesday, October 17, 2007.

"Design Matters" airs live on Fridays at 12PM PST / 2PM CST / 3PM EST on The VoiceAmerica Business Channel. To access the show, log on at http://www.modavox.com/voiceamericabusiness . All past shows are available in Debbie Millman's content library for on-demand and podcast download.
